Today we added a new feature to the Birthday Video Ecards site – you can now set birthday reminders. Send a birthday video greeting and then tell us your friend or family members’ birthdays. We’ll remind you (in a year from now and not before) that their birthday is coming. You won’t forget that person’s birthday ever and we won’t ever have to add a “Belated” category to our birthday section… Ok, maybe we should add that. Ok, in fact, it’s in the works, but you won’t ever have to use it if you set birthday reminders!

Father’s Day is just around the corner — Sunday June 21st — and it’s the perfect occasion to send video ecards. The nice thing about it too, is that you can always send a video ecard to Dad at the last minute. Record a video greeting with your webcam and send it to him Sunday morning. Just make sure he checks his email so he gets your video ecard on the day. 🙂
We updated Jalapenyo.com and OnfuegO.com with Father’s Day video e-card designs this week. Once again, if I do say so, they look great!

Niche Markets for Video Ecards

We’ve built our video ecards sites model on the idea that niche markets are powerful. From an advertising/ marketing/ branding/ up-sell/ cross-sell perspective, each video ecard site we’ve built has a well-defined market. We can target moms, dog lovers, birthdays and gift givers, the dating crowd and soon, the holiday crowd… by holiday. We have several others planned, as well.
We are seeking the right partnerships and opportunities now in order to fully realize the plan.

We’re always striving to make the user experience better when creating a video ecard on our sites. Always looking for new ways, easier ways for our users to do so — and your suggestions are most welcome! In the meantime, we took a whole step out of the process yesterday.
We had an extra step in there from back in the day when video e-cards were 99 cents (ha!). The user had to validate that we were authorized to charge their PayPal account before the final confirmation screen. Since video ecards are always FREE now, we didn’t need the step anymore.
We rolled up those last two steps and it’s much more streamlined now – ahhh! Try sending a video ecard today and see what you think!

We’re very excited to announce that we launched another video ecard site today – Birthday Video Ecards.com – this one solely dedicated to the birthday theme. Birthdays happen to millions of people everyday – so birthday ecards are BIG. We hope to achieve a more steady (not so seasonal) traffic flow to the site and provide a great service. We have plans to add lots more designs and to add a birthday reminder feature, as well as some other new functionality.

Mother’s Day Success

Mother’s Day was huge for us at Jalapenyo.com. We saw a really big increase in traffic and lots of video e-cards sent. Thank you to everyone who used (and I hope enjoyed!) the service.
It seems that the nature of the business is that it’s very seasonal. That makes it easy for us to plan for the big spikes but emotionally it’s hard when you’re trying to build a business and you have to wait, wait, wait… for that next holiday.
Sooooo, we’re about to launch the Birthday Video Cards site because we figure that people have the occasion to send birthday greetings ALL year ’round. No more waiting yay!!
All-in-all very happy with where we are and the plan forward. That said, every day should be Mother’s Day. Right moms? 😉
